True or False for nursing parents?
? Eating beans, cabbage, broccoli, and other “gassy” foods will make your baby gassy
? Eating spicy foods will irritate your baby’s stomach and make them fussy.
? Tomatoes and other acidic foods will make your baby fussy and give them rashes.
? Chocolate will make your baby colicky.
☕️ Coffee (caffeine) will make your baby fussy
The truth is that most nursing parents can continue with their normal diet and do not need to remove or add any specific food types. If baby has a true reaction to a food in your diet, you can eliminate that food and typically expect for the reaction to resolve within 1-2 days.
In more rare but complex situations, you will want to work with an IBCLC and your pediatrician to decide if/when/how an elimination diet might be right for you.
